The Okike Prize for Literature
 Deadline: June 5.

The Okike Prize for Literature, a new Nigerian initiative, awards literary excellence amongst bright university undergraduates all over Nigeria. An Igbo word, Okike means creator. Though contextually, it means creativity. Right now, the initiative accepts fiction, poetry, and drama submission. Only Nigerian universities undergraduates can apply.

Okike Prize for Literature offers no particular theme for this submission call. So, be as creative as possible. Submit your works of fiction in Times New Roman, double-spaced and 1,500 words maximum. Or, send in 1,000 words maximum poetry, written in any style and theme. Drama work must not exceed 3,000 words, the acts and scenes clearly demarcated.

Entries should be emailed to okikeprize@gmail.com. Written clearly on the upper left side of the document the word count. However, do not write your name anywhere in the document work or as a file name. But, include a cover letter, written on the body of the mail. The cover letter should contain your name, email, university, and phone number.

Each winner in each category will receive N50,000. Same, the Okike Prize for Literature will publish their works in the prize anthology. Also, the winners shall attend the award-giving ceremony and participate in any promotional activities for the prize.

Finally, direct all inquiries to okikeprize@gmail.com.
