Desi Writers’ Lounge (DWL) Short Story Contest

Desi Writers' Lounge (DWL) Short Story Contest
Deadline: Aug. 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. (Pakistan Standard Time).

Desi Writers’ Lounge (DWL), a peer reviewed online South Asian literary magazine, opens  its short story contest submissions.

You can submit up to 5,000 words previously unpublished short stories for the contest. Submit only entries written in English. Send your Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) attachments entry to info(at)desiwriterslounge(dot)net.

Include the title of the story and your name in the cover page. Do not include page numbers, headers or footers in the rest of the document. Format your submission as follows: Georgia size-12 font, single spaced and left-aligned.

Desi Writers’ Lounge will select three winning stories, which it will publish on its website and considered for its print Papercuts magazine. Papercuts is known for the versatility and accessibility of its content.

The winner of the short story competition will win the Dastaan Award with its PKR 50,000 cash prize. DWL will announce the award results during the first week of October. You can read previous winning entries.

While Desi Writers’ Lounge owns the first publishing rights, writers retain the rights to their stories. Consequently, you can publish your stories as long as you give credit to the DWL short story competition and/or Papercuts magazine.
