Deadline: May 1, 2018 (midnight BST).

The 2018 Bristol Short Story Prize is open to all writers around the world whether published or unpublished. You can either submit your story online or post by mail. The team awards £1000 for 1st prize, £700 for 2nd prize, and £400 for 3rd prize. It also awards £100 to the remaining 17 shortlisted writers.

To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old on May 1. And you must write your story in English. Also, only submit works that haven’t been published or won any prizes before and won’t be before Oct. 13, 2018.

The team recommends a maximum length of 4,000 words, not including title. However, there is no minimum length. You can submit stories can be on any theme or subject. It also welcomes any style including graphic, verse or genre-based.

Should you plan to submit online, send your story via its online entry facility. Do ensure you send in a word document, pdf or their equivalent. On the other hand, send postal entries to Bristol Short Story Prize, Unit 5.16, Paintworks, Bath Road Bristol BS4 3EH.

The 2018 Bristol Short Story Prize team sets no specific formatting requirements. You may format your work in the way you feel is most appropriate.

You can enter as many stories as they like. However, you have to pay the £8 entry fee for each submitted story. Pay the entry fee online or via check made out to Bristol Short Story Prize Ltd. And, you must also upload or send a signed entry form confirming you read and accepts the rules of the 2018 Bristol Short Story Prize.
