Modern Poetry in Translation Calls for African Poetry

Modern Poetry in Translation OPEN CALL FOR POETRY FROM AFRICAN LANGUAGES

Modern Poetry in Translation (MPT) Opens Call for African Poetry. Its focus for this summer is on translations of poems originally written in African languages. As its name suggests, MPT publishes only unpublished translations of poems not originally written in English. While it has a preference for contemporary work, MPT is happy to receive work from any era.

Modern Poetry in Translation Submission Guideline:

You can submit up to six poems. However, you must have the rights for the reproduction of your poems submitted to MPT. Modern Poetry in Translation pays its contributors.

Before you send your work, browse MPT’s archive to see examples of previously published work. To submit, either send your submission by email to submissions@mptmagazine.com or fill out the form on MPT’s website. Send your poems as a Word document attachment, a new page for each poem. Do not send your submissions as PDFs or other format. Start each page with your name as the translator, the original poet’s name and your contact email.

Deadline: May 16.
