Submit to the Koffi Addo Writivism Prize for Non-Fiction

Koffi Addo Writivism Prize for Non-Fiction
Deadline: March 31, 2018 (midnight GMT).

Submit to the Koffi Addo Writivism Prize for creative non-fiction, run by CACE . The annual prize awards emerging African writers who have not had a book published. Writers must also be resident in an African country to be eligible.

Submit your 2,500 – 3,500 words entry as an attachment to info@writivism.com with the email titled as 2018 Koffi Addo Prize. And then, write your contact information such as your country of residence, age, legal name and pen name and telephone contact in the body of the email.

Ensure you save your entry as a Microsoft Word or Rich Text file, naming it your story’s title. And, include on the first page the name of the story and the number of words. Your story should be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font with 1.5 line spacing. Do not mention your identity in any part of the story.

You can only submit one entry. The story must be original and previously unpublished, including your personal blog. It will disqualify plagiarized entries without notifying you.

CACE will send you an email acknowledging your entry after the submission deadline. By submitting to the Koffi Addo Writivism Prize, you accept its terms. Although you have the worldwide copyright, CACE has the unrestricted right to publish and translate your work. You cannot publish the story elsewhere until after ten years from the publication date.

The winner will receive $500 (USD) cash and possibly a one-month writing residency. The winner shall produce a complete first draft of a publishable manuscript before the residency. A CACE partner publisher will then publish the edited manuscript, under the Writivism Series.

Shortlisted writers will edit their stories with a commissioned editor prior to publication in the annual Writivism anthology. Also, CACE may also invite them to attend the annual Writivism Festival in Kampala, Uganda, in August 2018.
