SUNU Journal Submissions

A Wolof word meaning our, SUNU Journal engages critically African issues and topics at continental, regional, national and international levels through literary work, research papers and compelling visuals. SUNU’s mission is to amplify the youth voice and contribute to strengthening their collective consciousness in critical engagement with African affairs, and aesthetics.

Accepted on a rolling basis, Submissions should critically and creatively explore topics that dwell within the domain of Africa and the diaspora. SUNU accepts original and previously unpublished submission in three categories:

  • Scholarly work: contributors should submit a recently written academic work, between 3000 to 6000 words. Film, exhibition and book reviews should be 800 to 1500 words. Interviews are also welcomed and accepted. Please submit abstracts of no more than two pages in a Microsoft Word document, and include full name, affiliation, country, email address and brief bio.
  • Creative writing and op-ed: SUNU welcomes reflective essays, criticism, opinion pieces, poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Please submit abstracts of no more than two pages in a Microsoft Word document, and include full name, affiliation, country, email address and brief bio.
  • Visual work: submissions include original art works, photography and multimedia content that communicate African stories, culture and issues. Please include at least four images, with full titles, captions, dates and any and all pertinent information. If submitting a film/video, please provide the link to your work and synopsis. Please include full name, affiliation, country, email address, and brief bio.

    SUNU is innovative, patriotic, pan Africanist, altogether, insightfully GREAT.Please, which of the titles in the “List” are indexed by Scopus/Thomson Reuters/Scimago indexing bodies

      @Chukwuka, we, unfortunately, cannot say which titles are indexed by any indexing bodies. Thanks for utilizing our platform though. Do let us know if there is any other way we can improve our services.
