Non FictionSubmission Calls

2017 Goethe-Institut Literary Exchange

2017 Goethe-Institut, Saraba Magazine and Bakwa Magazine Literary Exchange
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2017.

For this year’s Literary Exchange, Goethe-Institut collaborates with Saraba Magazine and Bakwa Magazine. They all ask writers to submit applications to participate in their mentored creative non-fiction workshops and exchanges.

They seek to jumpstart a collaborative environment between Cameroonian and Nigerian authors and writers. Cameroon and Nigeria share a border and similar cultural values. Therefore, collaborating together in the literary sphere will help the two countries. Also, writers selected for the workshop would not have to pay for the experience.

To apply, send your name, a 200 words max bio, with publishing history and nationality, and your availability to travel to libo@lagos.goethe.org. Use “Application for Literary Exchange 2017” as your email subject.

You must be up for traveling between May 10-16, 2017 or other dates with prior notice. Also, include an unpublished writing sample as a word attachment. Your sample should no more than 700 words, written in English. Submit two copies of your sample, one with your name on it and the other without your name.

Your work will be automatically disqualified if you do not follow instructions. Goethe-Institut, Saraba Magazine and Bakwa Magazine will only accept works written in English.

In conclusion, they will notify writers selected by March 10, 2017. Participants will receive details on dates and meetings too. For further enquiries, do contact: libo@lagos.goethe.org.
