Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie named ‘Best of the Best’

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun has been named the ‘Best of the Best’ by Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction. In consideration of the award were Zadie Smith’s On Beauty, Eimear McBride’s A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing, Rose Trembain’s the Road Home, Marilynne Robinson’s Home, Ali Smith’s How to Be Both, Tea Obreht’s The Tiger’s Wife, Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles, Barbara Kingsolver’s The Lacuna, and AM Homes’s May We Be Forgiven.

This year on its 20th anniversary, chairs of judges from the past 10 years like Joanna Trollope, Shami Chakrabarti and Daisy Goodwin were asked to pick their “best of the best” winner from the last decade.
