Aspiring and established South African arts writers are invited to apply for Goethe-Institut JHB’s dance writing workshop. The workshop will facilitated by Mary Corrigall. The workshop will take place at the Dance Forum in Newtown, Johannesburg, from Feb. 2 – 5 and from Feb. 22 – 23, 2016.
The workshop seek to identify prospective dance writers for the 2016 Dance Umbrella and provide them tools to work with. And also to provide a platform for established arts writers to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of the event. The 2016 Dance Umbrella will run from Feb. 25 to March 6.
Who can apply: aspiring and established South African arts writers.
How to apply: submit a minimum of two journalistic texts between 500 – 2,500 words, a CV, and a short blurb outlining interests and future ambitions to pr@johannesburg.goethe.org.
Successful applicants will be provided with a R 5,000 stipend for the entire period. During this time, successful applicants will produce texts on the event. Selected texts will be published in mainstream platforms, niche art online platforms and the Dance Umbrella Gazette. A return flight or bus ticket can be provided for successful applicants from outside Gauteng. However, you’re responsible for arranging your accommodation during the time of the workshop.
Participants will be selected based on their submissions and a short telephonic/face-to-face interview. Feedback on applications will be given by Jan. 15 latest.
