Digital Lab Africa calls for multimedia creation projects. It is open to any artists, producers, start-up, SMEs, collectives, students or entrepreneurs from Sub-Saharan Africa. Applicants have to be based in this region or being nationals of one of the Sub-Saharan African countries, provided the project development is mostly implemented locally.
The four categories of the Digital Lab Africa multimedia production projects:
- Web creation/transmedia
- Virtual Reality
- Video Game (Serious Game)
- Digital Music
Download the call for projects presentation and rules. You may submit several projects, but only one per category. To apply, complete the form (one project per form) and email it to digilabafrica@gmail.com. You can either download the application form in French/English, or complete the online form.
Additional documents to attach to your application submission include:
- Presentation folder of the project including graphical, visual elements, solutions, technologies, screenplay, target audience, projected budget, business plan, production schedule (5 to 8 pages maximum).
- A beta version, preview, pilot or demo of the project if available
- A biography and/or description of the company represented (max 300 words).
- A picture (.jpeg)

- June 1- Aug. 31: call for projects
- Sept.: selection of projects by Digital Lab Africa selection committee
- Sept. 30: announcement of selected projects for the pitch competition at DISCOP Johannesburg
- Pitch competition at DISCOP Africa Johannesburg (2 – 4 November 2016)
- Nov. 2: Pitch competition for each category
- Nov. 3: Workshops and presentations
- Nov. 4: announcement of winning projects (1 per category) and Award Ceremony
- Projects incubation (2017)
The projects incubation will be spread over a period of 3 to 6 months between January and October 2017 and adapted to the project specific needs. It will include a residence time in France within the limit of 1 month. Finalised projects will be presented at the 2017 edition of Discop Africa Johannesburg.
