Deadline: Jan. 31, 2019.
HOLA Africa in collaboration with Blackbird Books, an imprint of Jacana Media, announces its call of submissions for Exhale, an upcoming queer African erotic short fiction anthology.
The theme of Exhale is wrapped in the idea of a release, letting go, breathing out. An orgasm. The team wants compelling, well-crafted and imaginative stories that speak to the array of experiences where queerness, pleasure, and sensuality intertwine. They want readers to Exhale. This is about sexual freedom, imagination and expression.
HOLA Africa and Blackbird Books recognise that sexuality is a complex and wide space, it is not possible to present all forms of representation in one place. They recognize that there are not many erotica stories written about these experiences on the continent, by queer African writers. So, they hope to use this as an opportunity to invite queer people to write their fantasies, their experiences, and their wildest dreams.
All submissions must be in English. They should be short erotic fiction, a maximum of 3,000 words. Don’t be afraid to make it steamy, sexy and as compelling as possible! Please submit original, unpublished work! Please number your pages, use font point 12, Times New Roman, and 1.5 point spacing. You can submit up to three (3) separate pieces in your submission.
Please upload your submissions via this submittable link or send them to eroticexhale@gmail.com. Direct all inquiries to eroticexhale@gmail.com.
