Saraba is a quarterly literary magazine that aims to create unending voices by publishing the finest emerging writers, with a bias for Nigeria, and Africa. Publishes wonderful poetry in the form of chapbooks.
Magazine: send unpublished fiction, poetry and non-fiction work. Do not send in any material that has been published elsewhere in print or on the web. Send no more than one work at a time, and wait for response before you send another.
The maximum word count for fiction works is 4,500, except otherwise announced. Will accept no more than 3 poems at a time.For non-fiction, it expects a broad range of new creative writing, including short memoirs, interviews, reviews, creative non-fiction, creative journalism, etc. The maximum count for this is 2,500.
Saraba is also open to digital art, mainly illustrations. Send in high resolution jpeg files (not larger than 4 MB).
Gives attention to magazine entries that respond to its themes. Read the theme calendar for an idea of forthcoming issues before submitting.
Send a bio of not more than 50 words (in third person). Only submit on www.saraba.submittable.com.
Saraba encourages contributors to send their work when a call for submissions has been announced. After the deadline for submission has expired, expect to hear from us within 8-10 weeks.
CHAPBOOK: Unsolicited poetry would not be considered for the chapbooks. Publication of a chapbook is at the discretion of the publishers and the editors who take into account previous publication in issues of the magazine and/or an author’s critical acclaim.
