Deadline: Oct. 1, 2017.
New isiZulu fiction publishing company Kwasukela Books calls for submissions for its first anthology of short stories (between 1,500 – 3,000 words). The anthology titled Izinkanyezi Ezintsha (‘New Stars’) will feature speculative fiction from emerging writers.
Kwasukela Books wants stories wholly from the South African perspective, written in isiZulu. According to its Founder and CEO Wade Smit, “We are looking for isiZulu short fiction that explores beyond our reality, beyond our world, and our assumptions. Think spirits, the universe, strange creatures, and magic.”
The team encourages writers to delve into speculative fiction, science fiction, and fantasy to create stories that will bring new worlds to life. It wants bold, creative, and innovative fiction that captures the imagination.
Email previously unpublished submissions as .doc/.docx attachment to submissions@kwasukelabooks.com. The team will not accept stories pasted into the body of the email. But, in the body include your name and a 100-word biography. Also, format your document as Times New Roman, 12pt, and double-line spacing. Most of all, do not include any identifying information such as name or contact details in the document. As it reviews submissions anonymously.
