The Awele Creative Trust will begin receiving fiction submissions for its 2017 ACT Award on Nov. 15, 2017. To enter, email your previously unpublished work to awelecreativetrust@gmail.com. Again, the award only rewards fictional works.
The team will only consider one story per author. With your submission, include a cover note with your name, date of birth, e-mail address and telephone number. And ensure that your story is between 2,500 and 5,000 words.
Only writers between the ages of 16 and 26, resident in Nigeria are eligible for the award. The team would give the winning author a cash prize of N50,000.
Writers can submit both original stories written in English or stories translated into English from any Nigerian languages. However, should a translated work win, N20,000 of the prize money goes to the translator while the rest goes to the original story author.
The team will announce a longlist in Feb. 2018 and a shortlist of five writers in April 2018. Finally, it will announce the winner in May 2018.
All authors retain copyright of their work and all inquiries should be directed to awelecreativetrust@gmail.com.
