Deadline: Nov. 20, 2018.
Cfwriterz calls for fiction, poetry and nonfiction entries for its award, sponsored by SOBCA Academy. The theme for this edition is “Wings to fly” and the winner will receive ₦100,000. African writers of any background or residence are invited to send their work, written in English.
The team prefers unpublished original work but is open to work that has been published elsewhere, as long as its publication status (where and when) is indicated in the submission. It will also accept excerpts from books or scripts, as long as it’s indicated. Similarly, it welcomes translations, as long as the source text and author is credited.
Maximum word count for fiction and nonfiction are 3000 words and 30 lines for poetry. Only send in one poem at a time as multiple entries are not allowed. To submit, head to the site’s submission page, scroll down and fill the submission form at the bottom.
But, before you submit, register on the site using your email or social account as entries without an updated profile will be ignored. Also, if you don’t login before you submit, you’ll get an error message.
Cfwriterz does not pay contributors at the moment. However, the team offers thorough editing and good design. And, it recommends that you download previous editions to get familiar with the kind of work it accepts.
Editors will select and publish a long list within a week after the submission deadline. The judges will read through and select the shortlist while readers will be allowed to simultaneously vote for 1-2 weeks. The site will announce titles accepted for the Magazine and the winning entry sometime in late December or early January next year.
