You can now submit to the 2nd annual Nyanza Literary Festival’s (NALIF) writing competition. You must be a current or former resident of the Western Kenya/ formerly Nyanza region. Or, you should live in the East African regions surrounding Lake Victoria (Entebbe, Kampala, Jinja, Bukoba, Mwanza, Musoma).
Submit previously unpublished fiction, screenplay/play, and poetry work written in English and centered around the theme “Freedom” to nalif.ke@gmail.com. Each category winner gets $500. Then NALIF will publish the winning submissions in an anthology.
Format your entry in a standard typeface, 12pt font and attach it as a .pdf or .doc format. You can only submit to one category:
- ONE short story or novel excerpt, maximum of 25 pages double-spaced per entry.
- ONE screenplay excerpt, maximum of 50 pages double-spaced per entry.
- No more than six (6) poems per entry, up to 10 pages total.
Ensure to include your name and type of submission (short story, novel excerpt, poetry, screenplay etc.) in your subject line. For example, Jane Owiso – Poetry. Also, include your contact information: name, address, telephone, email address on a cover page of the manuscript. And include a proof of residency like a passport and national ID.
NALIF does not condone plagiarism. It will disqualify any plagiarized work.
