Deadline: Oct. 8, 2018.
The Type/Cast editorial collective announces a new call for submissions. It seeks fiction, poetry, and short nonfiction works. Xabiso Vili will guest edit this issue.
Your work can touch on literally having to deal with physical spaces that are contested. Or, you can write about emotional or intellectual spaces, or any other space you may conceive.
Email your previously unpublished work, written in English, to submissions@typecast.org.za. You can incorporate other languages into your work but they must be understood within the context.
The maximum length requirement includes 4000 words for fiction, 3 poems, and 3000 words for nonfiction and essays. When emailing your submission, ensure, it’s titled, and format as Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing. Also, save your file as a Microsoft Word file with the titles of the piece.
The team assesses the submission blind. So, only put your name in the body of the email and nowhere in the submission file itself. Attach illustrations as separate documents.
It will accept simultaneous submissions but only accepts one submission at a time. And, ensure that the maximum email size including attachments is 1 MB. Do not send high-resolution pictures until asked.
Finally, include a short bio and photograph of yourself. You can send a playful or formal photograph.
