Call for Submission: Afroyoungadult

Goethe-Institut Afroyoungadult Call for Submission
Deadline: Nov. 30.

Afroyoungadult, published by the Goethe-Institut, will feature Young Adults (YA) stories. The Goethe-Institut invites aspiring African writers to submit short stories, 3,000 to 5,000 words in length, in Kiswahili, English or French.

Selected authors will be published in an anthology and will participate in workshops in February 2019. The anthology that will be available in Kiswahili, English, and French, and launched at the 2019 Ake Festival.

Send your short story to afroyoungadult@gmail.com with a short biography and your preferred city for the workshop. The workshop will take place in

  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Kiswahili)
  • Lome, Togo (French)
  • Dakar, Senegal (French)
  • Accra, Ghana (English)
  • Kigali, Rwanda (English)
  • Lagos, Nigeria (English)
  • Nairobi, Kenya (English)
  • Johannesburg, South Africa (English)

The workshops will take place between Feb. 11 to Feb 15, 2019. Therefore, only submit if you will be in Africa and can attend your chosen workshop.
