Deadline: July 7, 2017.
Gnarled Oak will be reading submissions for Issue 13 from June 24 to July 7. Gnarled Oak accepts poetry, prose, videos, and artwork. James Brush, its editor, favors shorter works. He prefers poems of less than 20 lines, prose works less than 1,000 words, and videos less than 7 minutes long.
Send in 1-5 poems pasted in the body of an email, 1-2 prose pieces, 1-4 .jpg attachments, or a Vimeo or YouTube link. Gnarled Oak accepts simultaneous submissions as long as you inform the team of other acceptances. However, it accepts only original unpublished work. But, it would accept works published on personal blogs, Twitter, Facebook, other social networks, and poetry community sites.
The publication only accepts electronic submissions. Therefore, send submissions to submissions [at] gnarledoak [dot] org. Include subject line: “Gnarled Oak Submission / Last Name”. Also, include a cover note and brief third-person bio. Your bio may include links but should only be a few sentences long. So, keep it between 50-75 words.
Check out previous issues to get a sense of things. The team responds to submissions six to ten weeks after the submission period. But, it will try to respond within three weeks. For more information, visit the Gnarled Oak site. Good luck!
