Are you a Ghanaian writer or storytellers, whether fiction or non-fiction? Then, submit to both Koffi Addo and Abena Korantemaa Writivism Prizes. The Koffi Addo Writivism Prize for Non Fiction is an annual award for emerging African writers resident in Ghana. While the The Abena Korantemaa Writivism Prize for Oral History is an annual award for emerging African writers and storytellers resident in Ghana. Both prizes are administered by the Center for African Cultural Excellence (CACE).
Koffi Addo and Abena Korantemaa Writivism Prizes Guidelines
For the Koffi Addo Writivism Prize, submit your previously unpublished work to info@writivism.com as Microsoft Word or Rich Text format attachments (not in the body email), with a clear label: Koffi Addo Prize 2016 as the subject. In the body of the email, include other information such as your city or town of residence, age, legal name and pen name (where applicable) and telephone contact.
Submit only one entry. Your entry must be written in English, in 12 point Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing, between 2,500 – 3,500 words. Save your file with the title of the story. The first page of the story should include the name of your story and the number of words. Do not mention your name in the entry.
Shortlisted writers will be invited to attend an arts festival in Accra, where the winner shall be announced.The winner shall be awarded $500. Judges are Chair NoViolet Bulawayo, Yewande Omotoso and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah.

For the Abena Korantemaa Writivism Prize, submit a 5-8 minutes original and previously unpublished recording of a oral factual story as told by an older African woman who is unable to document her own story in English. You can also transcribe your oral story into a written format. Check out Nana Darkoa’s BBC’s The Forum 60 second idea oral story. Your story should be spoken in English. However, should it be in a Ghanaian indigenous language, please also submit the English translation with your submission.
Please submit only one entry, a MP3 or MP4 file no more than 5MBs, to info@writivism.com as an attachment with the subject label: Abena Korantemaa Prize 2016. You can either submit an audio and a video file, accompanied by a transcript. Please include in the body of your email other information such as your city or town of residence, age, legal name and pen name (where applicable) and telephone contact.
