The Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation & Multi-Lingual Texts

Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation & Multi-Lingual Texts
Deadline: Aug. 31.

Lunch Ticket, a twice-yearly literary and art journal,  hosts the Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation & Multi-Lingual Texts.

Submit previously unpublished translated works through Lunch Ticket’s Submittable. You can submit a 5000-word prose or up to 10 pages of poetry. Please note that you can submit only one piece, once per genre, once per submission period.

Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation Guidelines

With your submission, include a statement about your translation process, a notation of genre at the top of your piece, and the original work translated. However, don’t include identifying information on your submission.

Also, format your work as double-spaced in 12-pt Times New Roman font. Lunch Ticket accepts simultaneous submission as long as you notify them immediately if your work gets accepted elsewhere.

Do ensure that you already have copyrights for the work you translated. Otherwise, Lunch Ticket will not publish your work.

The winner will receive $200. All finalists will have their works featured in Lunch Ticket.

If accepted for publication, Lunch Ticket retains the first North American serial rights for the electronic version of the accepted piece. All other rights revert to you upon publication. However, you cannot give or sell the work to another publication for one year, from the date of the agreement and contract.
