The Union Bank Campus Writing Challenge is an OkadaBooks initiative sponsored by Union Bank. The contest focuses on discovering young, raw and bold writing talents across Nigeria and giving them with the necessary support to hone their craft and become master storytellers. Therefore, this contest is strictly for undergraduates of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
To enter, submit an unpublished 3,000 to 5,000 words story by uploading and publishing it on okadabooks.com. The team accepts the following genre: adventure, romance, and science fiction. Only one entry per person is allowed.
Winners will have their stories published in the 1st edition of the Collegiate Anthology. Also, contestants stand a chance to get publishing deals as select entries will be shared with top publishers in Nigeria including Farafina and Narrative Landscape.

Union Bank Campus Writing Challenge Prizes
While the winner gets N500,000, Union Bank will give up to N850,000 to the winner and runners-up. The prizes are
- First place: gets N500,000 in cash, the story published in the anthology, a copy of the anthology, and an interview on bellanaija.com, okadabooks.com, and brittlepaper.com.
- Second place: gets N200,000 in cash, the story published in the anthology, a copy of the anthology, and an interview on bellanaija.com, okadabooks.com, and brittlepaper.com.
- Third place: gets N100,000 in cash, the story published in the anthology, a copy of the anthology, and an interview on bellanaija.com, okadabooks.com, and brittlepaper.com.
- Fourth place: gets N60,000 in cash, the story published in the anthology, a copy of the anthology, and an interview on bellanaija.com, okadabooks.com, and brittlepaper.com.
- Audience favorite: gets N50,000 in cash and the story published in the anthology.
- Best cover design: gets N50,000 in cash.
- Top 10: gets N15,000 in cash, the story published in the anthology, and a copy of the anthology.
- Top 25: gets N5,000 okadabooks.com gift certificate and a copy of the anthology.
Timeline
The challenge will span three months and include different stages. Submission closes on Oct. 7 by 12 midnight WAT. By Nov. 4, OkadaBooks editors and slush judges will select and announce the Top 150 entries.
Then, judges Chika Unigwe and Abubakar Adam Ibrahim will select the Longlist, Shortlist and Top 3 from the Top 150 entries from Nov. 5 to Nov. 30. The judges will judge successful entries based on originality, writing skill, writing style, language use, and potential success of the story.
Also, the public will be able to vote for audience favorite and best cover design from Nov. 5 to Dec 3.
Sometime in Dec. 2018, the Union Bank Campus Writing Challenge team will announce the winners.
