TSSF Magazine, on Nov 1, opened its call for submissions. Disclosure: TSSF Magazine is one of the projects of The Single Story Foundation, which runs this site. TSSF Magazine seeks well-crafted, realistic stories from writers of African descents or those associated with Africa.
Send your poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction and visual art to publication@singlestory[dot]org. Email title should be: TSSF Mag: [Work Name], [genre]. Submission should be sent as either a word or PDF document attachment. It will not accept entries submitted in the body of the email. Your contact information should be in the body of the email. Your bio should also be included in the body of the email. TSSF Magazine does not accept simultaneous or previously published works. It will only accept one submission at a time from an author. At this time, it does not pay its contributors.
Submission Guidelines
Submit fiction pieces or excerpts no longer than 6,000 words. You can also submit no less than three and no more than five original, unpublished poems. Poetry length and style are open-ended. You can also submit up to 4,000 words creative nonfiction. Although it prefers submissions structured around narratives, you can submit other types of writing style. Fiction and non-fiction submissions should be double-spaced, written in Times New Roman or Cambria, 12 pt. font, with numbered pages.
The magazine also accepts photography, photojournalism, and other visual arts. Art submitted should be recent and unpublished in any literary magazines or journals, excluding exhibitions or gallery shows. Your submission should tell a story. Please do not send just one picture. Instead, send a story told through photographs.Submit 5-10 low-res images. You can also send a link to a web page or a link to download images by pdf. If you are selected for publication, you will be asked for 8.5″ x 11″ or 11″ x 17″hi-res jpeg images at 300 dpi. If you cannot provide digital images at this size, please do not submit. Attach a photo credit and description to each photo submitted. Include a standard photographer’s release, allowing TSSF to publish the work sent.
All submissions should include at most a 100-word biography, included in the body of the email. Do not include your name or contact information in the file name, header/footer or title page. It will automatically decline submissions that do not follow the above guidelines.
