2016 £5,000 Troubadour International Poetry Prize

Put together by the Coffee-House Poetry, the 2016 Troubadour International Poetry Prize is open for entry. Poets of any nationality, from any country, aged over 18 years may apply. Judges’ decision is final. The judges are Glyn Maxwell (b. Welwyn Garden City) and Jane Yeh (b. New Jersey, ed. Harvard University).

Troubadour International Poetry Prize Submission Guideline

Poems must be written in English. Also, they must not be longer than 45 lines. As a result, they should fit one A4 or US-letter-size page. There are limit on number of poems you can submit. Likewise, there are no limit on number of separate submissions you can make.

Goes without saying that your submitted work must be your original (no translations), previously unpublished (print or online) poems. Consequently, the prize-winning poems may be published by Troubadour International Poetry Prize. Furthermore, your entry to the competition signifies your consent to not having your poems published elsewhere for one year, without Coffee-House Poetry’s permission.

Your submission should only have the title in the document. Rather, other contact information such as your name should not be indicated on the submitted poems.

You can make your submission by emailing it or mailing it. To submit by email, send a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .rtf attachment to CoffPoetry@aol.com. Also include in the body of the email your name, address phone number, list of titles, total fees, and receipt of your paid fee.

Fee

Entries must be accompanied by submission fees of £5/€6/$8 per poem. Payment may be made by PayPal, cheque or money-order. Pay by PayPal by scrolling to the end of this Coffee-House Poetry page.

  • 1st £5,000
  • 2nd £1,000
  • 3rd £500

In addition, plus 20 prizes of £25 each, an autumn 2016 coffee-house-poetry season-ticket, and a prize-winners’ coffee-house poetry reading for all prize-winning poets.

Prize winners will be contacted during the week of Aug.8. While the prize giving event will take place at Coffee-House Poetry at the Troubadour in Earls Court, London on Oct. 31, 2016.
